Sun Metro to Restore Full Service for Nearly All Fixed Routes on March 3, 2025

Published: Feb 28, 2025

Most Routes Returning to Regular Schedules; Brio to Maintain Modified Weekday Service

Sun Metro will restore regular service for nearly all Fixed Routes starting Monday, March 3, 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to return El Paso’s public transportation system to standard operations. Only Routes 2 and 16, which serve the Upper Valley and Five Points areas, will remain deactivated.

The routes service by Amistad and the LIFT paratransit service are already offering regular service hours all week and will continue to do so. Brio lines will maintain an adjusted weekday schedule and regular weekend service.

“I want to thank our riders for their patience as we address challenges to restore regular weekday service for the vast majority of our Fixed Routes,” said Sun Metro Director Anthony DeKeyzer. “Starting March 3, riders will connect to their destinations more easily thanks to our Sun Metro team working diligently to ramp up services to get back to standard service levels.”

Sun Metro was forced to modify its service schedules after a fire on February 11, 2025, severely damaged its maintenance operations facility. Route service hours were adjusted to allow Sun Metro to meet federal transit safety regulations requiring systematic inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs needed to maintain buses in safe operating conditions. Temporary maintenance operations have been set up at the Union Depot to service buses. The fire remains under investigation.

Route Changes Effective March 3, 2025
