When you purchase fares at a new Ticket Vending Machine (TVM), you will receive a printed ticket containing the date, expiration, amount, and ticket type (daily, weekly, monthly student, senior, or one-way pass -single ride), along with a QR code. This QR code is authenticated at the validator. Simply hold the fare ticket under the QR code reader of the validator for a few seconds. Once the payment is verified, the validator will give you a visual and audio signal to confirm that the validation is successful.

Fares purchased at a new TVM must be shown to the operator for confirmation of eligibility for discounted fares and issuance of a transfer. A Sun Metro photo ID may be required to confirm eligibility. The one-way pass is valid for a single trip on any Sun Metro bus. Upon boarding a Sun Metro Bus, a one-way pass purchased through the Ticket Vending Machine must be surrendered to the fixed-route driver. If you will be continuing your trip on another bus, you may ask for a transfer at this time. One-way passes verified at the validator will not work as payment on other routes.

NOTE: Overpayment vouchers provided by a new TVM can only be redeemed at a new TVM. Select "Redeem Voucher"  at the TVM to redeem the voucher and use the value to purchase your additional fare at the TVM.
