Traveler Training

Volar Center for Independent Living offers free training for passengers with disabilities wishing to ride Sun Metro's fixed route service.

Training sessions are every Friday from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at Volar CIL, 1220 Golden Key Circle.

Veteran Pass Program

SolidersSun Metro is partnering with social service agencies to provide free transportation to homeless veterans. Homeless veterans who are pursuing employment opportunities can receive up to 90 days of free transportation.

Sun Metro is also working with social service agencies to provide bus passes at a reduced fare for veterans, who need transportation options. Bus passes are normally $48 per month. Social services agencies may obtain bus passes for their customers who are veterans at a cost of $30 per month.

A partnership with the Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee, this service provides transportation options for our veterans in need. Call 915.212.3333 for more information on this program.

Dump the Pump

Gas tank in garbage canSponsored by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), the third Thursday in June is known as Dump the Pump Day. It is a day that encourages people to ride public transportation and save money, instead of driving a car. Started in June 2006 when gas prices were at record highs, this national day emphasizes that public transportation is a great travel option that also helps people save money. As of 2023, individuals can save more than $13,000 per year by using public transit instead of driving, according to the latest information on public transit fares, auto costs, and gasoline prices.*
