I Spy... On the Streetcar! Sun Metro & El Paso Streetcar Poster Art Contest
Hey kids! Sun Metro, El Paso’s essential public transportation service helping people get to school, work and other destinations around the city, invites you to show us your creative skills by taking part in a FREE art contest.
Have you ever thought about what you can see while riding on the historic Streetcars? Ride the El Paso Streetcar for FREE and show us what you see by submitting your drawing!
Three (3) winners will be selected. The winning drawings (artwork) will be displayed as posters at Sun Metro facilities. Winning entries will be announced in Spring 2025.
Below are the guidelines for the Art Contest. Please review these instructions carefully to ensure your entry meets all the required criteria. Deadline to submit artwork is 5 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2025.
Who can participate
School-age children, Grades K-12
Winners
One winner will be selected from each of these three grade categories: K-5, 6-8, and 9-12
Prizes
Winning Entries will receive the following:
- Two (2) FREE Sun Metro 6-month bus passes.
- Artwork to be displayed inside the El Paso Streetcars and Sun Metro buses for 3 months.
- Artwork will be shared on the El Paso Streetcar, Sun Metro, and City of EL Paso’s social media pages.
- Streetcar and Sun Metro Swag bags.
Contest Guidelines
- To participate, have your parent or guardian help you fill out the Art Contest Form
- One entry per student.
- The artwork must fall under the “I SPY...on the Streetcar!” theme. The contest is open to children enrolled in elementary, middle and high schools within the El Paso city limits.
- Artwork must be original and copyright/royalty-free, and must not advertise, promote, or in any way showcase any commercial product or property (product placement). Parks, local landmarks, and other public places are allowed to be featured.
- The City of El Paso, the Streetcar and Sun Metro reserve the right to use the artwork received in this contest. Participants will not receive monetary compensation for entries or the use of the artwork by the City of El Paso, the Streetcar, and Sun Metro.
Submit Artwork
- Online | Submit application and upload artwork via the Art Contest Form
- El Paso Public Library | Drop off your artwork along with a completed entry packet at any El Paso Library Location. You can also scan and submit your online application with the available scanners and computers on-site. Library staff can assist as needed.
- Physical artwork submitted will NOT be returned unless requested via email to [email protected] by Friday, February 28, 2025
- Physical artwork must have all contact information written on the back of the page, to match application (Participant Name, Guardian Name, Phone, and Email).

Artwork Specifications
- Landscape (horizontal) orientation: 10” x 6.5” (fits within a standard sheet of paper) OR 11” x 17”
- Student’s full name, grade, and school on the bottom right corner
- For online submission, artwork must be submitted in one of the following formats: PDF, JPEG, or PNG
- Please scan and submit artwork in high-quality 300 dpi resolution
